The Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova Museum offers an Artist in Residence
program in Turku. The museum focuses on the cultural heritage of medieval
Finland as well as that of contemporary art.
The artist is provided a working space free of charge. The working space is 35 m² and it is located approx. 3 km from the centre of Turku in a building completed in 2010. The working space is not suitable for metal sculpting or development of analog photography.
The artist pays for working materials, maintenance
and travel expenses. For the duration of the program, it is possible to
rent an unfurnished flat in the same building where the studio/working space is
located.
Residence
The period of residence can vary from 2 to 6 months according to the
residence application.
Each year upon invitation one artist in residence is offered an
opportunity to exhibit works in the museum's Takkahuone Gallery (26m²).
Duration of the exhibition is 1 to 3 months.

AiR-Nykarleby is a result of the international exchange programme
developed in the 90's within the Fine Arts Programme at the Swedish
Polytechnic, Finland in collaboration with the Friends of Swedish Art
School which later took over the AiR-programme.
AiR-Nykarleby provides a studio together with all forms of workshops (print
making, sculpture, wood, digital, photo and so on).
Residence
The artist gets accommodation as well as a mobile phone.
The artist pays for travelcosts, food and working material ("paint,
color, "software") unless other arrangements are agreed
between the organisation and the artist before the residency.

For the visiting artists the residency offers a flat of ca. 40 m2 in a
refurbished old wooden house situated in Kokkola's old town. The building is
owned by the City of Kokkola. If needed, the artist has an access to a
studio of ca. 10 m2, at the Nordic Art School (www.nordiskakonstskolan.org).

The residence periods vary from one week to six months.
The artist is granted a sum of 15 euros a day, and pay

Residence
Five bedrooms are available for hire for visiting artists working temporarily in Finland for a minimum period of one month. The villa is meant mainly for artists who have an invitation to do a project with an art organisation in Finland. The application should usually be done by the inviting organisation.

The Fiskars Village AiR was founded in early 2006 by the Artisans, Designers and Artists of Fiskars Co-operative. The residence houses two apartments: a studio for 1-2 persons and a two floor apartment for 1-4 persons. Work spaces are connected to the apartments.
Residence
Professional overseas (i.e. non Finnish-resident) craftspeople, designers and artists may apply for the residency. Cultural journalists, writers and scientists may also be considered. The Artist Residency is available year-round with residency periods ranging from 2 to 3
months. A monthly maintainance fee of 100 euro is required from all
visiting artists. The Fiskars Artist in Residence program does not
offer any funding for travel, material or living expenses.

The main purpose of HIAP is to foster cultural interaction between Finnish and international art professionals by providing an opportunity for creative work and research. Helsinki International Artist-in-residence Programme is one of the first and most important international residency centers in Finland. HIAP is located at the Cable Factory cultural complex (www.kaapelitehdas.fi) close to the Helsinki City centre.
Residence
Each year between 10-15 artists from different fields are offered a working period of 2-3 months in the program. HIAP artists-in-residence are provided with a working studio with accommodation for free and a grant for living expenses.

Set up in 1978, the Jyväskylä Centre for Printmaking is a municipal
unit affording artists facilities for work. Besides the print workshop
and a gallery, the centre has also two guest rooms.
Residence
Duration of the residence is one month (in 2011: October/November). Residency
includes accomodation (free of charge at the guest room of the centre), a grant
for living and material expenses (
400 €) and the use of the working space/printshop (free of charge - except plates, papers
& special materials).
The guest rooms of the centre can also be rented privately by
professional printmakers and other persons visiting the centre; guest
room rent is 26 € a day (in 2011).
The Jyväskylä Centre for Printmaking has also
participated in the Pépinières
- European artist-in-residence programme offering 6 months
residencies for young artists. This residency includes a special grant
and the use of the apartment and the print shop free of charge. The

The old and unused dairy building has been renovated by the Kemijärvi Sculpture and Culture Foundation as an artist's
residency. The building has 4 artists apartments and 4 working studios. The traditional Wood Sculpting Symposium held in Kemijärvi is connected to the activities of the artist's

A separate working team annually selects 4-5 visiting artists, based on applications. The artist has access to a 62m2 fully furnished apartment with 4 rooms and a kitchen. Next to the apartment are also the work and exhibition facilities, altogether 135m2.
Residence
The foundation offers established foreign artists accommodation and work facilities for a period of 2-3 months. A tax-free daily allowance of 20 euros is provided to cover the expenses. One work of art, produced during the visit in Ekenäs, is donated to Pro Artibus. The visiting artist has opportunities to exhibit work produced during the visit.

Raumars functions in the Satakunta region in western Finland with the help of local art and cultural institutions, organisations and individuals. Raumars offers an apartment (60m2) free of charge.
Residence
Working periods are usually from 2 months up to 4 months. Raumars will offer an apartment free of
charge, tries to arrange working facilities as needed and give part-time administrative help in producing the accepted proposal. Raumars also guarantees some support for the material expenses. The costs paid by artist include living, travelling and transporting expenses.
Applying
The deadline for applications is 30th of April annually. Artists are selected through an application process. The main selection criterion is the artists’ motivation to work within a social context.

Saari Residence is a manor owned and maintained by Kone Foundation as a
research and production facility for researchers and artists. The
lodging facilities include two apartments in the courtyard buildings,
plus two bed sits with kitchen, shower and toilet and alcove bed. The
range of the workspaces is also wide, from halls for theatre and dance
to research rooms; artists’ workspaces will be available also in the
refurbished stone barn. Saari Residence has capacity for 4 - 10
researchers and artists at any one time. For the production residencies,
larger numbers are possible. The residence also offers possibilities for
family accommodation.
Residence
2 months funded residencies at Saari Residence are offered for
individual artists, translators and critics of all nationalities to
support the applicant’s proposed work. In summer the residence
functions as a production residence.

Application period for Saari Residence begins on 1 August and ends on 31 August.

The art center started in 2005 with the first guests and the first artist-in-residence. The idea is to create a place were artists can work on their own artistic work, take part in the social live of the local community and be a part of the growing, changing and exploring art centre.
Residence
Working periods 1-6 months. Artists can either rent living and working spaces or apply for a partly supported residency programme, where only a part of the rental costs have to be paid. The artist is responsible for living-, material- and travel costs.

An artist run residence in a fully renovated bank building from the
1960's. There are two fully equipped apartments: upstairs there is
88sq.m containing two bedrooms, living room, kitchen, sauna,
bathroom+toalet. Downstairs there is one room 40sq.m, kitchen,
bathroom+toalet, and a large terrace. The studio is situated in the
basement of the house(30sq.m.). There is also a sauna department and
large terrace for resting, relaxing and for social events. Additional
working space can be arraged depending on the needs of the artist.
Heinävesi is located in the province of Etelä-Savo in
the border of Karelia and the very beautiful area of the Saimaa Lakeland.
The residence is in the vicinity of the Orthodox Monasteries of Valamo
and Lintula. The surrounding area offers many outdoor activities; you
may freely pick any herbs, berries and mushrooms. It is also possible to
fish all year round. Close access to the Varistaipale Canal and Canal
Museum. Visiting artist has a possibility for exhibiting his/her work.
Residence
Working periods from 1 week to 2 months. September-May. For Finnish and
foreign artists. Artist is responsible for rent, travels, living and
working costs. A group of artists / family up to 10 persons can be
accommondaded. Rent in the upstairs apartment is 200 e per person per
week, downstairs 160 e per person per week (family members in reduced
price).

Residence for new media artists, working in the intersection of new technologies and contemporary art. Sumu, adjacent to the Gallery Titanik, functions primarily as a studio and exhibition space for the artist-in-residence. Salmela Art Centre is a summertime multi-arts cultural event in Mäntyharju, a rural center in the Finnish lake district. It’s "Young artists in Salmela" -wintertime programme is done in collaboration with inish Academy of Fine Arts. Foreign art students and artists have come to Salmela mainly through the Academy of Fine Arts.
Residence
Working periods 4-8 months (September-May). The artist has a free studio and accommodation. All other expenses are paid by the artist. The artist donates a work of art for Art Centre.

Art Nuuttila's Gallery can act as a residence between September 15 and
June 15. In July and August it is used for the Summer Exhibition.
Visitors have a 75 m2 room for accommodation and next to it a 50 m2
studio + a balcony for working. Cold workshop and the yard can also be
used.
Residence
Working period may vary from two weeks to some months. The artist,
possibly two adults, can work inside or make sculptures or environmental
art outside. He/she may participate in Art Nuuttila's Summer Exhibition
as agreed. Visits to artists' studios in Tampere region can be organised.
The artists may also for some days use Art Nuuttila's small apartment in
Helsinki. The gallerist couple live in a house along the same yard.
Otherwise the residence locates in beautiful nature, on the shore of a
lake. It is 3 kilometers to the main road, 15 kilometers to the center
of Virrat and 8 kilometers to the nearest food shop. Rent for the
accommodation (incl. Helsinki) and the work space is 600 euros per month.

The programme consists of visual artist exchange between FASF and two partners: iaab from Switzerland and Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec from Canada. The Swiss and Quebecois artists stay at the Tapiola studio for a working period of 4-6 months; the exchange agreement offers the same opportunities for Finnish artists in respective countries.

The centre offers accommodation in a house located just a few metres from the sea. Two apartments: 1) 2 rooms, kitchen and wc, 2) 1 room, kitchen and wc, a shared shower. The building has good central heating for cold weather. If needed, there is also possibility to use a simple photography darkroom, a ceramic studio with a kiln and a smith's cottage.

Working period minimum 3 weeks. The fee is 10 euros/day.
