Grassina Artist House has working and accommodation facilities for four visual artists and their partners or families. Grassina’s work periods are 1 to 6 months long and are applied for once a year. The most recent application process for Grassina took place in February 2026, when work periods for 2027 were open for applications.
We announce an upcoming application process for Grassina well in advance on the Studio Foundation website and through social media channels as well as on the bulletin board of the Artists’ Association of Finland and in the member newsletters of the Artist Association’s member associations. You can apply for Grassina using an electronic application form, which opens at the beginning of the application process.
The work periods take place in four different apartments at the Grassina Artist House: Botticelli, Donatello, Pontormo and Giotto. All apartments are subject to a rent. The form asks the applicant to rank the apartments according to where they would prefer to work. Read the apartment descriptions
The application form includes a work plan of up to 1,000 characters, in which the applicant explains what they would do during the work period in Grassina.
The selection criteria for the working periods at Grassina Artist House are:
- artistic activities evaluated on the basis of the applicant’s CV and their website
- work plan presented on the application form
- apartment and month preferences
Professional visual artists are given priority in the application process for the Grassina Artist House. For non-members of the member associations of the Artists’ Association of Finland, the rental prices for work periods are 25% higher.
The Studio Foundation will notify the applicant of the selection by email. If the decision is positive, the tenant will be sent a rental agreement, the reservation fee invoice, the rental invoice and the instructions for the apartment. If the tenant does not pay the reservation fee invoice by the due date, the reservation is cancelled and the work period is offered to another applicant.
